Granville Island Lager, Karaoke and an Iced Latte.

Last weeks first working week was christened quite rightly with a night out. Aside from the typical antics, I learnt two things. The first is some beers are deceptive. Even though beer is usually a mans best friend, Granville Island beer is most certainly not. Much akin to Lindeboom and Stella it rapes your wallet and then the following morning makes you feel like you've been fuc*ed by a train.

And then of course once a beer of such force takes hold of you then other things can happen. Like Karaoke. The 2nd lesson of the night was once 10 pints down, don't let 6 girls persuade you that singing Poker Face is a great idea. All in all, I behaved (photos to follow of some of the teams quality dancing in the ilk of this) and much of Saturday is a blur. Apart from one incident with an Iced Latte. I discovered that a night out followed by this wonderful drink, is a new form of colonic irrigation.

The games are only 2 weeks away now, and cypress mountain (http://cypressmountain.com/) got a heavy dump of snow over the weekend! We can see this resort from down town and there were real worries that the events here were going to be moved. Whistler on the other hand is still in pristine shape following 7 metres of snow in November and December with plenty more on the way.

British Olympic hopefull Chemmy Alcott has been talking about her habit for wearing turquoise underwear on race days for good luck, I think JW should send her a pair of these!

And one final note, everyone get their RED SHIRTS on for tonights game. Lets make it 35 years without a trophy for that sorry lot.

Quiz Champs and a Rude Awakening.

Day 5 in the big brother house...

Things still fairly quiet in down town Vancouver, but with the games just a couple of weeks away there should be some exciting times ahead. I've already scouted out a few of the best places to go for free lash during the olympics. So if you find yourself o'er this way then head too the Heineken House. Apparently the dutch have set up this venue to celebrate any orange medals, with the promise of free beer all night on any winning Netherlands day...I'm off to the shop now to buy myself some appropriate clothing!

Team Sportsworld decided to have a crack at the world renowned pub quiz at the Calling Pub on the waterfront, needless to say thanks to the latest British/Spanish arrival to the team we walked it... Unlike my team mates, I'm not going to suggest that following a blitzful start (Q-Name Hasselhoffs latest autobiography A.- Don't Hassle the Hoff. & Q. How much money do you start with in Monopoly A.-$1500 ($!?!?) ) I crashed and burned. Once again I had to succumb to the back benches of "Yeah, yeah, I knew that one."

And one final note, woken up at 12am by the fire alarm. Note to self - should really be out on the razz on a thursday at midnight!

Weekends up, so hopefully some interesting antics to fill you in on by monday...

Finally here!

I'm here, in not so sunny Vancouver. Apparently it rains as much in a year here as it does in Edinburgh, great!

So following a 10 hour flight I was collected by my lovely new boss Natasha and taken to the luxurious and spacious Rosedale on Robson Hotel. Complete with 2 double beds, 2 sofas, a kitchen and bathroom! Anyone fancy a visit?

Today was my first day of work at a secret location in a maximum security stockade in Vancouver, (don't worry it's not that exciting.) Most of the team seem fairly safe, we have Ricardo from Portugal, Jeff and Kyle from Ontario with Rachel and Fran from the UK completing the A-team. Plenty of administrative jargon to plough through for the next couple of weeks. However a company laptop and mobile have been provided, so fb is on tap, thank f*ck for that!

Couple of cheeky nights out lined up this wednesday and thursday, so all the latest as of then, although I have yet to spot any hot totti....fingers crossed.

lots of love

Juan
